00 AM PacificPosition Information The City of Brentwood is seeking an individual experienced in the operation and maintenance and repair and of water production facilities to join our team.
The Water Production Worker I would operate and maintain wells, reservoirs, hydropneumatic tanks, pump stations, and treatment facilities; and inspect residential and commercial water quality issues.
The ideal candidate for the current vacancy is someone who understands the aspects of water production facilities operations, sampling, maintenance and repair, has a heightened awareness of public health concerns, and is familiar with the Division of Drinking Water Regulations.
Candidate will need to have the ability to learn quickly and display good judgment, as well as be organized, flexible, approachable, resourceful, and a positive team contributor.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience:
Six months of general maintenance or related work experience.
Work experience within a municipal water utility is preferred.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a California Driver's License must be maintained as a continued condition of employment.
Possession of or the ability to obtain a Grade I Water Distribution certificate issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board within 12 months of appointment.
If not already held, must take first available State of California Water Resources Control Board Water Grade 1 Distribution certification exam from date of hire and apply for certification within 30 days of successful test results.

The examination process will consist of:
Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
Written Exam - Applicants possessing these requirements will be invited to take the written test.
The examination will cover elements of the knowledge and abilities identified in the job description and is tentatively scheduled for the week of August 21, 2023.
All applicants that pass the written test will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months.
This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
